While each course has university requirements, the theme and content of each class changes regularly. The only constant is change. I enjoy variety, and I always aim to create courses that emphasized current issues and real-life application, problem solving, and reflection.
English 102 introduces students to the major forms of literature—short story, poetry, drama, and the novel.
English 101 is a writing intensive course designed to introduce you to the methods of academic research and critical writing.
English 449B provides students with a broad overview of British literary history by covering some of the most influential works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama published between the 18th-20th Century in Britain.
English 407B aims to help students develop the skills they will need to write successfully in a technical workplace by introducing them to the fundamentals of technical communication.
English 407A aims to help students develop the skills they will need to write successfully in the workplace by introducing them to the fundamentals of business communication.
English 232 is a course that explores issues relevant to contemporary global society through the reading of world literature from the mid-seventeenth century to the present day.
English 231 is a Second-Year Seminar (SYS) course that explores issues relevant to contemporary global society through the reading of world literature from antiquity to the early seventeenth century.
English 102 builds upon the critical thinking, reading, and writing capabilities that students developed in English 101. Students learn the processes necessary for collecting and incorporating research material into writing.
English 101E/F is a two-semester version of English 101 designed for students whose placement exam indicates they need additional time, instruction, and practice to complete college-level work.
